Intuitive eating isn’t a diet—it’s the opposite. It’s about reconnecting with your body’s natural hunger and fullness cues, and learning to trust yourself around food again.
We're all born intuitive eaters. Babies cry when hungry and stop when full. Somewhere along the way, diet culture taught us to override those signals.
The 10 Principles (Simplified)
- Reject diet mentality
- Honor your hunger
- Make peace with food
- Challenge the “food police”
- Feel your fullness
- Discover satisfaction
- Cope with emotions without using food
- Respect your body
- Exercise for joy, not punishment
- Honor your health with gentle nutrition
What Intuitive Eating IS NOT
It’s not “eating whatever you want with no regard for health.” It’s not giving up. And it’s definitely not a quick fix. It’s a practice—a journey back to trusting your body.
Important Note
If you’re managing a digestive condition, intuitive eating still applies—but with nuance. You can honor hunger cues while also being mindful of foods that trigger symptoms. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Food is not the enemy. It’s not a reward or punishment. It’s nourishment—and you deserve to enjoy it.
